Salty Strands

SALTY STRANDS

Nothing beats a dip in the ocean!  One unforgettable time ago, our hair and makeup team arrived on the shores of Waikiki to prepare a special bride for her big day after she had taken a dip in the ocean. Not many women can pull off the salty hair and skin look on a normal day let alone on their wedding day, but this lucky girl could!  After her quick shower, we locked in that extra texture from her salty strands to secure a hairstyle that stayed beautiful all night long without a problem.

Now for the rest of us who aren’t so lucky, here are a few tips to use when in a tropical location for a wedding, honeymoon, or vacation to get those beautiful salty strands and keep our hair from becoming a knotty mess.

Try any or all of these.

-Spray some leave-in conditioner on your ends before you swim.

-Don’t rinse all the conditioner out of you hair if you plan to head right to the ocean.

-You can probably get by with the hotel shampoo, but bring a deep conditioner for after the swim sessions.

-Comb coconut oil on damp, freshly washed hair.  Rinse after 10 minutes.

-Braid your hair before taking a dip to prevent getting tangles.

Just remember if you’re spending time out in the water, you will need to replenish the moisture in your hair and skin!  Let your lips remind you. Chances are if they need lip balm your hair needs some love as well!

Someone at the beach once said, “Happiness comes in salty water.”
