HOW TO GET GLOWY SKIN

We have a few tips and tricks up our sleeves to create a glow for your makeup look from start to finish! Before we jump into our favorite products for getting a golden glow, we have to mention that the most important start to getting a glowing makeup application is your skin.

Not everyone is gifted with perfect skin... actually, most of us aren’t. During the time of any big event, your skin is often compromised. We get less sleep and don’t always have the best diet or hydrate enough. With that in mind, we suggest you make sure to remember your daily skin care routine and wear sunscreen every day on the days leading up to your makeup appointment. We love when clients take the extra step to exfoliate and moisturize the morning of your makeup application. One of our personal favorite serums to use for hydrating is Saint Jane’s Luxury Serum. A little goes a long way and once you try it you will be hooked on how instantly refreshed your skin feels. We go into more detail about skin care on our skin care preparation blog here.

You take care of your skin, then it’s all on us! Here are some of our favorite products we use to help you get glowing skin. Take some notes for yourself so you can try these the next time you do your own makeup!

One of the first steps we take to create a glow is to have a consultation where we ask you a few questions about your skin type. From there, we formulate the best steps for your level of glow. Prior to foundation, we use an illuminating primer to start off. We use a variety of brands based on the foundation we choose. A couple of our team’s favorites are the MAC Strobe Cream and ILIA Radiant Priming Serum.

Next, we match your level of glow with the right foundation that also fits your skin's needs and coverage goals. We finish off the look with applying one of our favorite pressed illuminating powders. For your own application, we suggest getting one that matches your skin tone so you have an overall radiant looking coverage. One of our favorites is HUDA GloWish Luminous Pressed Powder.

The final touch is, of course, highlighter! You know you love glow if highlighter is your go-to product that you can’t leave the house without. We use highlighters to add glow to certain areas that we want the light to catch—the inner eyelids, underneath the brow line, above the cheekbones, above the lip line and if you are up for some extra the collar bone! We have tried them all and there are always new ones coming out, but we have a current obsession with Hourglass. It adds that perfect lit from within look without looking oily or shiny.

For all of these steps, a little goes a long way, and you can always build up the glow with your highlighter and contouring to balance out your look or take it to the next level.
