MUST HAVES FOR GETTING READY
As a beauty team, we are often in a room full of girls getting everyone ready for someone's special day! The bride has picked out her most important friends and family to be by her side. Whether it is that one best friend or a whole gang, we have a few must and ideas to help make those hours memorable.
Here are a few of the "must haves" during your prep time.
Champagne & OJ
Of course you know that if you combine those 2 it is the perfect marriage equalling a mimosa. Have a few girls in charge bringing a bottle so there is enough to go around. The popping' bottle shot ia a good photo opportunity too, so be sure to save one for when the photographer arrives.
Coffee & Tea
From the sleepless nights of the bachelorette party to the rehearsal dinner and all the planning, a coffee run before getting ready on a wedding day is just a must. Recruit a bridesmaid to get everyone's coffee order, or stock up some individual cold brew and creamers for the fridge. A coffee run is not ideal in the middle of hair and makeup, so be prepared in case the sleepy sets in!
Photographer/Designated Photo Taking Friend
We often see our bridal parties on their phone or just enjoying their time together and miss photo ops. Designate a friend who has a good camera or phone to be the one to take some behind-the-scenes shots. If you are in a setting that has bad light or have a few extra dollars in your budget, hire a photographer to come for an hour. You would be surprised how many good shots a pro can get in an hour. so worth it!
A hanger for your wedding dress
The hotel hanger or the dry cleaner's hanger just doesn't cut it. We often see brides searching and asking everyone to pass over their "cuter" hanger, and there's usually not one around. Etsy has a few hangers that will make your dress look Pinterest worthy! You can even customize your hanger with the date of your wedding or your name. If you take a photo with all of the dresses, it's cute to customize a hanger with the names of each bridesmaid.
Food
No one wants a hungry (or hangry) bride, bridesmaid or mom on their big day. Most likely you will skip a meal on your wedding day with everything going on. We suggest having fruit, protein bars, trail mix, and pastries that are easy to eat readily available. If you are at a venue or rental, it is a good idea to get a list together of good spots nearby that deliver so you won't have to search for something while enjoying your beauty time. Room service is always the best if you are at a hotel. We suggest checking what hours they service meals so you don't have to eat breakfast for lunch. Plan ahead as the time flies on the day of the wedding and being over prepared will go a long way.
& More!
Here are a few other extras we often hear people need in the moments before the wedding.
Mints
Nail polish Remover
Toothbrush / Toothpaste
Deodorant
Safety pins, needle / thread
Scissors (Our most borrowed item!)
Water bottles (we suggest have a few of the mini water bottles in the car on your way to the wedding)
Steamer / Iron
We are probably biased, but the girl time before the wedding is the most cherished of the day. The rest of the day goes by so fast. We love how calm and fun the girls are when all of their men aren't around. It's like a spa day or girls' night out. I think the best gift from a maid of honor would be to really plan this time for the bride by creating a customized beauty time by bringing along some of the favorite drinks and treats, and making sure to capture the memories.
Cheers to more girl time!
