We love lips. Lip color can really set the mood for your look. Your lips will look best when they are soft and healthy. In this blog, we share our tips for lip prep as well as our favorite lip care products. Plus, our makeup artists give their recommendations for the best wedding day lipstick.

Lip Prep Tips

1. Apply a lip mask and let it set for 10 minutes
2. Exfoliate using a gentle lip scrub or a small brush, such as a disposable mascara wand or new toothbrush
3. Apply a hydrating lip balm or oil

Best wedding day lipstick

SOFT & NEUTRAL

If you're looking for a soft shade and a neutral lip color, there are a lot of beautiful options that pair well with all skin tones. The number one team favorite color (a favorite of Gabi, Raven, and Aiko) is Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk. Another favorite from Charlotte Tilbury is Nude Romance. This is Alyssa's favorite. Sunny's lipstick of choice is Pat McGrath Nude Venus, which is available in a lipstick, lip liner, and lip gloss trio set.

LIGHT PINK

A pink lip is classic and timeliness. A light pink especially looks beautiful in summer and spring. Sonia loves Mac Brave. Christy loves Huda Beauty Sweet Cheeks. Another Mac favorite, Alexis is a fan of the shade Velvet Teddy.

BOLD

For those looking to make a statement with their lip color choice, these are the team's recommendations for the best bold lipstick. Sherry loves MAC's Matte Ruby Woo. Sam loves Kylie Cosmetics Mary Jo K. Katelyn loves Danessa Myricks Matte Desert Rose.

DEEP PINK

If you're looking for something a little more subtle than a nuertral shade, but don't want to go quite as bold as red, a deeper shade of pink is a great choice. Katelyn's favorite for a pink shade is SAM by Makeup By Mario. Taylor loves the shade Baby by Merit. Melissa loves Cream in your Coffee by MAC.

MIXED

If you can't find your perfect shade, no worries! Many of our artists mix some favorites to create the perfect custom lip shade for you. Makall likes to use Makeup Forever Wherever Walnut Liner topped with Maybelline Vinyl in the shade Captivated or Fenty Beauty Gloss in Glass Slipper.

Whitney also is a fan fave of Charlotte Tilbury Pillow talk, Medium. She likes to pair it with a different lip liner depending on skin tone. She loves Mac Stripdown, Whirl, or Oak. She loves adding a touch of Hourglass Phantom Volumizing Lip Gloss Shine in the color Slip to the center of lip or lightly on top.

For someone that doesn’t really like the feel of a lipstick, Eri likes the Buxon Plumping Power Lip Liner because it gives a plumping effect without having to use a plumping lipgloss. Her favorite shade is Rich Rose. She will top that liner with a really pretty balm for moisture.
